I Read the News Today, Oh Boy
26 June 2015
As John Lennon famously sang, “I read the news today, oh boy.” In today’s headlines are numerous events which will have major implications for years to come — if the human race has that long!
Demonically-inspired, militant, anti-Christian radical Islam continues its push for world dominance. It is very unlikely that this horrific juggernaut can be stopped — in fact, I am certain that Islam will win.
A huge part of the demonic-Islamic strategy is to politically delegitimize and economically destabilize Israel, as a prelude to a wholesale genocide of the Jewish people. The countries of the West, and all of the other peoples of the world, are being seduced into supporting this anti-Messiah agenda.
As individual followers of Yeshua (Jesus), we are powerless to prevent these movements from gaining a stranglehold on mankind. But we CAN decide whether we will participate in them or not. Even more importantly, we MUST decide if we are willing to suffer, to the point of death, in order to resist these evils.
By our words and actions, will we actively resist and actively insist that homosexuality, Islam, and anti-Semitism are anti-Messiah evils born in the pit of Hell? Are we willing to lose our money, possessions, home, livelihood, friends, family, spouse (opposite sex, of course!), children, freedom, health, and even our very lives for the sake of truth and righteousness?
Or, as so many “Christians” will inevitably do, will we compromise by tolerating, agreeing with, and submitting to evil, in a vain attempt to preserve our pitiful little lives on this earth? Yeshua has made His requirements quite clear:
Yeshua said to His disciples, "Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow Me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? For I, the Son of Man, am going to come in My Father's glory with the angels, and then I will reward each person according to what they have done." (Matthew 16:22-27)You would have to be deaf, dumb and blind not to realize that a thick darkness is increasingly covering the earth, as the prophet Isaiah foresaw:
“Anyone who loves their life will lose it, while anyone who hates their life in this world will keep it for eternal life.” (John 12:25)
See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but Yahweh rises upon you and His glory appears over you. (Isaiah 60:2)That “glory” of Yahweh is made visible to the peoples of the earth by the persecution, suffering and martyrdom of Yeshua’s followers, as His disciple Peter wrote:
Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Messiah, so that you may be overjoyed when His glory is revealed. If you are insulted because of the name of Yeshua, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.May each day’s news headlines make you bold and courageous to obey the instructions Father God has given us through Peter. Let the promises of Yeshua strengthen you:
If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? And, “If it is hard for the righteous to be saved, what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?” So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. (1 Peter 4:12-19)
“Do not be afraid of what you are about to suffer. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you, and you will suffer persecution.... Be faithful, even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown.” (Revelation 2:10)
“To the one who is victorious and does My will to the end, I will give authority over the nations — that one ‘will rule them with an iron scepter and will dash them to pieces like pottery’ — just as I have received authority from My Father.” (Revelation 2:26-27)
